The effect of mental exercises accompanying the training curriculum on some offensive and defensive skills of fencing players

Abstract

      Mental exercises affect the level of psychological preparation of players, as they are important in the sports field for their effective and effective role in the required performance, especially in critical moments of competition, and work to raise and improve the level of sports performance and control and control of psychological emotions, as they are beneficial to the level of achievement of players during competitions in all Individual games, including fencing, as this game is one of the offensive and defensive games at the same time, which requires great effort because of its fast and active movements, high compatibility and concentration. The offensive and defensive movements are among the most important movements through which the competitive situation is resolved, which consists of many different movements that improve the mind and the ability to form new positions and the rapid change that occurs in mental processes. Training in mental exercises helps the fencer direct his attention and isolate himself from all distractions. Which hinders him, given that attention processes are constantly changing because they are linked to changing situations and factors affecting competition, and this works to improve the offensive and defensive skills of the players.


The experimental method was used for one experimental group, as the research community reached (4) players, while the research sample amounted to (4) players also from the Etisalat Sports Club players with fencing weapons. Preparing a set of mental exercises and applying them in the first part of the main part over the course of (21) training units and knowing the extent of their impact on the offensive and defensive skills of the foil players by evaluating their performance through a group of experts. A number of conclusions were reached, including: The prepared mental exercises proved to have a positive effect on some of the offensive and defensive skills of the fencing players, and that the more attention is paid to the psychological aspect, the better the offensive and defensive skills of the fencing players. As for the recommendations: conducting educational courses for trainers to highlight the role of paying attention to the psychological and mental aspect and their importance for athletes through specialists in this field.
