Abstract
aims to demonstrate the extent of methodological diversity in the approach to the ancient phonetic lesson, in addition to its approach to the modern phonetic lesson. The study found in the book (siru sinaeat al'iierab) by Ibn Jinni and the treatise ('asbab huduth alhuruf) by Ibn Sina an ideal example of this. The predecessors did not limit themselves to the functional aspect of sound, but rather went beyond it. Ibn Sina had the upper hand in studying it scientifically. The book ( siru sinaeat al'iierab by Ibn Jinni) was the best representative of the first trend in the Arab heritage, which is the functional study of sound, which is known today as the science of (phonology). Under its shadow, the phonetic lesson became an independent science, while Ibn Sina's effort in his treatise ('asbab huduth alhuruf) was the ideal image of what is known today as the science of (phonetics)
