Abstract

    Since the intention was the core of pragmatics; Because of its great importance in knowing the speaker’s purpose that he wants to convey to the addressee, and based on that, this research came to reveal the pragmatic purposes included in the requesting methods in the brilliant sermon of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), Especially the imperative and interrogative styles. This research was built on an introduction and two sections preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion. As for the introduction, it included two topics, the first of which dealt with an overview of the sermon, and the second of which was devoted to an introductory pause on the terms objectives and pragmatics. As for the two sections, the first was devoted to the pragmatic objectives of the imperative style, The second dealt with the pragmatic purposes of the interrogative style. In completing this research, we used multiple sources and references that included linguistic dictionaries and grammar books, as well as pragmatic studies.
