The Development of Preventive Awareness Among Children Aged (5-6-7) Years
Main Article Content
Abstract
The current research aims to identify the development of preventive awareness among children aged 5, 6, and 7 years. The research sample included 210 children. The original population was divided into three strata representing the target groups of the study: the preparatory stage, kindergarten stage, and the first grade of primary school. A total of 70 children were selected from each group, making the overall sample size 210 children of both genders.
For the purposes of this research, the researcher developed a Preventive Awareness Scale after reviewing relevant theories and previous studies. This scale consisted of 26 items distributed across three dimensions: physical awareness, health awareness, and emotional abuse awareness. The researcher verified the psychometric properties of the tool, including validity and reliability. Validity was confirmed using two methods: face validity and construct validity. Reliability was established through the test-retest method and the Kuder-Richardson formula.
The researcher reached the following conclusions:
- Preventive awareness among children increases with age.
- Girls exhibit a higher level of preventive awareness compared to boys.
- There is no significant interaction effect between age and gender variables.
