The Family in Light of Qur'anic Guidance: A Terminological Perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research explores the concept of the family from a Qur'anic perspective, focusing on a terminological analysis of how the term "family" is understood and applied in the context of Islamic teachings. It aims to highlight the pivotal role of the family as a fundamental unit of society and a cornerstone for moral and spiritual development, as envisioned in the Qur'an.
The study begins with a linguistic and terminological clarification of the word "family" and its usage in both legal and social Islamic contexts. It then examines various Qur'anic verses that address family-related themes, such as marriage, mutual affection, mercy, responsibilities between spouses, parenting, and even matters related to divorce. The research emphasizes that Qur'anic guidance is not limited to legal prescriptions but presents a comprehensive framework for familial life, integrating emotional, ethical, and spiritual dimensions. Key concepts such as tranquility (sakan), love (mawadda), and mercy (rahma) are central to the Qur’anic vision of marriage and family life. Moreover, the study reflects on the societal consequences of neglecting Qur'anic principles, including family disintegration, domestic violence, and poor upbringing. It advocates for a revival of Qur'anic values in family structures to ensure societal harmony and cohesion.
In conclusion, the Qur’anic approach to the family is holistic, emphasizing balance, justice, and compassion, thereby laying the groundwork for a stable and ethically sound society.
