Methodologies – The Qur’anic Text – Concepts – Terminology

Abstract

This research examines contemporary approaches to the study of the Qur’anic text in terms of their related concepts and terminology, within the development witnessed in Qur’anic studies due to their interaction with modern humanities methodologies. The study aims to highlight the importance of these approaches in providing a systematic and scientific analysis of the Qur’anic text, clarifying their principles, tools, and characteristics. It also reviews the most prominent approaches, including the linguistic and stylistic approach, the historical and contextual approach, the critical (hermeneutical) approach, the thematic approach, and the comparative approach, in addition to key related concepts such as thematic interpretation, analytical interpretation, interpretation (ta’wil), reception theory, and modern readings of the Qur’anic text
