Abstract

The study entitled (The Effect of Temperature on Determining the Growing Season of Oil Crops in Iraq) aims to demonstrate the availability of suitable climatic requirements for cultivating oil crops in Iraq to determine the growing season, while analyzing the effect of elements (temperature) on the distribution of the studied crops: sesame, yellow corn, and field pistachio. In light of these characteristics, the most suitable times at the beginning and end of the growing season for planting oil crops can be determined.

For this purpose, seven climatic stations distributed across different locations in the study area were selected, based on climatic information for the period (1960-2024) from the study area stations belonging to the Iraqi General Authority for Meteorology

The aim of studying oilseed crops is due to their major strategic importance. They are not merely a source of vegetable fats used in human diets, but also a fundamental pillar in the industrial, economic, and commercial sectors.

The research addressed the economic and nutritional importance of oilseed crops and analyzed the impact of climatic elements (normal temperature, minimum temperature, maximum temperature) on the beginning and end of the growing season for oilseed crops in Iraq.
