The Impact of Political Stability on the Development of the Tourism Sector in the Northern Iraqi Governorates

Abstract
Political stability is a key determinant influencing tourism development, as it provides a safe and stable environment that enhances the confidence of tourists and investors and supports tourism investment. This study aims to analyze the impact of political stability on tourism development in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, using the analytical geographical approach to examine the relationship between political conditions and tourism activity.The study focuses on the main natural and human tourism resources, including diverse topography, moderate climate, and cultural heritage, as well as the role of government policies in supporting tourism infrastructure. The findings indicate a positive relationship between political stability and tourism growth, where relative stability in the region has contributed to increasing tourist numbers and promoting tourism investments.The study also emphasizes the importance of political stability in achieving sustainable tourism development by improving the region’s image and enhancing its competitiveness. It recommends adopting integrated planning policies to improve tourism services and infrastructure.
