Abstract

Rhetorical devices are verbal and conceptual means of expression used by writers to embellish their speech, giving it a musical and conceptual quality. This is exemplified by the Andalusian poet al-Basti in his poetic themes and purposes, through his use of antithesis (both positive and negative), paronomasia, double entendre, and by enhancing his language, adapting it to the context, and ensuring clarity of meaning.
