The Aesthetic Dimensions of Islamic Decorative Units and Their Application in Contemporary Fabric Designs

Abstract

   This research examines the aesthetics of Islamic decorative units, their formal and organizational characteristics, and the possibility of employing them in textile design as   .an important source for enriching decorative compositions in applied arts. The current research aims to reveal the aesthetic dimensions of Islamic decorative units and highlight their role in building the decorative composition of textile designs in  .a way that conveys aesthetic and functional values .The research comprises four chapters. The first chapter explains the research problem, its importance, objective limitations, and defines its terms. The second chapter  ,addresses the theoretical framework which includes three sections: the first, the concept of aesthetics; the second, the aesthetic dimension in textiles and the role of units in achieving it; and the third, types of Islamic motifs and their relationship to textile design. The third chapter covers the research procedures, employing a descriptive-analytical approach to analyze selected fixed-tile design examples based on indicators derived from the theoretical framework of decorative   .motifs The fourth chapter presents the research findings, conclusions, recommendations, and  suggestions
