The Aesthetic Features of the Image of the Sacred in Contemporary Iraqi Art

Abstract

This research aims to uncover the aesthetic features that characterize the image of the sacred in contemporary Iraqi art. To achieve this objective, the researcher formulated the following question: What constitutes the sacred in the formal representations of contemporary Iraqi artists? The research sample consisted of a group of works by contemporary Iraqi artists. The descriptive-analytical method was adopted, selecting examples of drawings that represent the image of the sacred in contemporary Iraqi art. The research instrument was an art analysis form, validated by experts for reliability and validity. To arrive at the research findings, the opinions of experts in the field were sought. The results showed that the presence of the sacred in contemporary Iraqi art is often symbolic and suggestive rather than a direct representation of religious symbols. The researcher recommends encouraging researchers in the field of fine arts to conduct specialized studies on the presence of the sacred in modern Iraqi art.
