Ibrahim Ibn al-Mahdi's Rebellion Against Caliph al-Ma'mun
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research is an academic study conducted by the researcher on the rebellion of Ibrahim ibn al-Mahdi al-Abbasi. It aims to clarify his biography, reveal his defiance of Caliph al-Ma'mun, the allegiance he received from the people of Baghdad, and his being called "al-Mubarak" (the Blessed) after he took advantage of Caliph al-Ma'mun's presence in the city of Mero. The research is divided into three sections. The first section deals with the life of Ibrahim ibn al-Mahdi, the second with the allegiance given to him by the people of Baghdad, and the third with his escape and capture. The most prominent findings are the failure of Ibrahim's rebellion against Caliph al-Ma'mun, his escape upon al-Ma'mun's arrival in Baghdad, and his capture through a tactful and merciful act by Caliph al-Ma'mun, who pardoned him out of respect for kinship ties.
