Abstract

The phenomenon of violence against women has received increasing global attention since the United Nations began to recognize the extent of its spread and its seriousness at both the family and societal levels. Violence is a source of many intractable problems facing the world today، such as poverty، ignorance، deprivation، diseases، tensions، and conflicts، as it creates distorted forms of social relationships and patterns of disordered behavior.

Iraq has experienced a period of tension and instability reflected in several social phenomena، including the problem of violence against women. Some women live in conditions of violence that may not be clearly visible، and many still consider it a private family matter. However، this situation has worsened and become a global issue due to its significant impact on human behavior، turning into a general behavioral concern. This has raised concerns and prompted questions about how to respond to such a phenomenon and what measures can be taken to address it.

Accordingly، the study titled “The Phenomenon of Violence Against Women in Iraq for the Year 2021” aimed to identify the causes driving this violence، clarify its forms and effects، and relied on descriptive and quantitative analytical methods to illustrate the spatial and temporal relationships of the studied phenomenon.
