Injury prevention strategies for weightlifters under the supervision of coaches in Baghdad clubs, from the coaches' perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the reality of injury prevention strategies implemented by weightlifting coaches in Baghdad clubs, and to determine the extent of their use of standardized preventative programs and their basic components during training sessions.
Research Methodology and Procedures: The researcher used the descriptive approach as it was suitable for the nature of the study. The research population consisted of 34 coaches distributed across Iraqi clubs, and the research sample was selected purposively from 14 coaches in Baghdad clubs. To collect data, a questionnaire consisting of 9 items was designed and reviewed by a group of experts to ensure its validity and reliability, which was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The results showed a clear commitment to implementing preventative methods, a positive indicator reflecting the development of training philosophy among the sample.
The results also revealed a clear weakness in the use of modern scientific methods, as a large percentage of coaches (71.4%) do not measure heart rate during training. The research found that the majority of coaches rely on recovery strategies, with (85.7%) of them applying cool-down after the training session, and (78.6%) allocating recovery sessions after competitions.
