Abstract
This research includes external study of of Tehan weevil Larinus maculosus (Scha.) of the family Curculionidae . This species recorded for the first time to our fauna of Iraq. This insect was placed as a general model for the family, for reference in the classification of other types of this family.
The head, thorax and abdomen their appendages including male and female genitalia are studied and illustrated. The external characters use in classification the species of Genus Larinus. Length the insect. Length and shape the compound eye raised and length the internal margin of the snout and length of the snout as to prothorax , Length and shape of Gular suture the density of pubescence over prothorax. Size and shape of scutellum in Mesothorax, metaepisternum, Mesosternum, Mesepimerom and the density of pubescence over all of them. The arrangement of the pubescence density on the Elytra. Shape of the pygidium, Size and Shape of the Siphon in male genitalia. Lastly the shape and number of of segment Stylus of femal genitalia.
