The Iraqi Communist Party's position on the National Progressive Front
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the contemporary political history of Iraq, you do not find in it a temporal and political circumstance that documented a highly expressive historical scene of the joining of the Communist and Baath parties, and the unification of their political ranks in one national front, except rarely on the ninth of March 1957 in the “National Union Front” to work together with the rest of the other national parties to overthrow The monarchy under objective conditions that forced them to work together. However, this front soon fell apart due to the differences between these two parties in their starting points, their political visions, and their methods of movement, in addition to the psychological factor, and the heritage laden with hatred that the Arab nationalist movement, especially the Baath Party, retained towards the Communists.
