Abstract
The virtue of science is not denied in the development of all areas of life, and sports have had a share in this progress. Scientific and thoughtful teaching and training is the right way to reach higher levels.
The game of basketball is one of the systematic lessons that are taught in the Department of Physical Education, as the researcher deliberately taught and trained the skill of peaceful scoring by using balls of different sizes and weights, as the researcher believes that these balls will improve the accuracy of peaceful scoring.
The research was conducted on a sample consisting of (42) first-grade students in the College of Basic Education, Al-Mustansiriya University for the academic year 2007-2008. The researcher used appropriate statistical methods, which achieved what the researcher aimed for. It was concluded that there are statistically significant differences in the post-tests between the experimental group and the control group, in favor of the experimental group.
The researcher recommends the need to use balls of different weights and sizes because it adds variety in learning without impairing skill learning.
