Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the importance of adding sheep serum to the medium of ripening and to know the ability of eggs to ripening, fertilization and early embryonic development, and to know the ability of eggs surrounded by several layers of cumulus or naked cells to ripening, fertilization and early embryonic development. The eggs were divided into three groups (A , b and c), where (a) represent oocytes surrounded by 3-6 layers of cumulus cells, (b) surrounded by (1-2) cumulus cells, (c) naked and not surrounded by any layer of cumulus cells, use the medium Tissue Culture Media-199 (TCM199) for oocyte maturation after sheep serum was added at three levels (0, 5 and 10)%, it was observed that there were significant differences at the level of P<0.05 between the three groups of oocytes, group (A) gave the highest rate of maturation, Fertilization and early embryonic development at the level of 10% of sheep serum were 69.44, 32, and 25%, respectively, while eggs from group (C) gave the least ability to ripen and fertilize 27.9 and 8.33% in the medium to which 10% of sheep serum was added, as well. The results showed that not adding sheep serum to the ripening medium, i.e. the level, reduced the ripening percentage of L For the three groups 46.6, 36.11 and 6.45% for groups (A, B and C), respectively, with the failure of mature eggs in in vitro fertilization
