Abstract

Our research focuses on the development of local alternatives in wide industrial applications, especially in the field of protection materials and coatings. Epoxy reinforced with Iraqi petroleum coal particles was used as a substitute for the carbon powders used globally, with different weight reinforcement ratios (5%, 10%, 15%) Tensile tests were conducted Under different stresses, in addition to the creep test, i.e. tensile under constant stress with the change of time, and these two tests are among the important tests for determining the workability specifications for coating applications for containers of specialized chemical liquids. These tests were completed with immersion tests in different solutions (acidic, basic and water) to determine the resilience of samples that are diffusively sealed. And the penetration of the particles of these solutions to the surfaces of these samples classified with epoxy samples as an adhesive and coded p1 and the epoxy samples supported by 5% petroleum coal p2, the epoxy samples supported by 10% petroleum coal p3 and finally the epoxy supported by 15% petroleum coal p4. The samples showed different behaviors and the sample p2 had the best results in terms of mechanical resistance in addition to low rates of diffusivity through its surface.
