Abstract

      Monk Rasputin is considered one of the most mysterious and controversial figures in Russian history. He played a role in the political life of the last Russian tsars of the Romanov dynasty. Although he did not hold any official position in the Russian Church, he was described as a spiritual healer and had the ability to heal others, as he was famous for. Due to his many relationships with women, he was able to get close to the royal Russian Romanov family and mix with the aristocracy in St. Petersburg.


He is considered one of the most prominent figures who sparked controversy in Russian history. Although he was a simple, illiterate, and uneducated peasant, he became revered among many peasants. Then he moved to the city of St. Petersburg, and from there he succeeded in entering the palace of the royal Romanov family, where he succeeded in healing the son of Tsar Nicholas II fell ill, so the Tsar and his wife were convinced that he was a saint, so he could live his next years as an advisor to them in the palace and close to them. With his intelligence and cunning, he was able to gain the trust of the Russian Tsar and became one of the influential people in the decisions of the royal family and had great influence. Many historians agreed that his arrival to the decision-making position and his interference in political affairs was one of the reasons for the outbreak of the revolution in Russia in 1917.
