Abstract

This research focuses on tracing back obscure terms to their intended meaning in the Hadith, based on Ibn Jinni's theory of major derivation. The term in question is "لُكَع" (Luka’), which appears in the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) Hadith: "أ ثمّ لُكَع؟" (Aathama luka') (Is Luka’ here?). The study relies on the different transformations of the word, indicating meanings of gathering, closeness, and attachment, in addition to the word's meaning in the language itself. Moreover, the meaning of attachment is confirmed by the context of the Hadith, which mentions embracing and kissing the grandson
