The Effect of Organizing the Educational Environment within a Skillfulness Climate on Intuitive Speed and the Performance of Selected Suppression Skills in Futsal
Main Article Content
Abstract
The aim of the research was to develop a measure of intuitive speed in futsal for students and to design educational exercises that organize the learning environment to foster a climate of skillfulness. These were integrated into physical education lessons for futsal. The study also aimed to identify the effect of organizing the educational environment to support skillfulness on intuitive speed in futsal among students, as well as its impact on the performance of ball control (suppression) skills in futsal, The researcher hypothesized that there would be statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-test results of the experimental and control groups in intuitive speed and the performance of suppression skills in futsal. Additionally, it was hypothesized that there would be statistically significant differences in the post-test results between the experimental and control groups in intuitive speed and suppression skills performance, the experimental method was adopted using a design with both experimental and control groups. The sample consisted of 60 students, intentionally selected, representing 64.516% of third-year students in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, College of Education, Al-Farahidi University for the academic year 2023/2024. The total population was 93 students, a scale for intuitive speed in futsal was constructed for students, and educational exercises were prepared to organize the learning environment within a climate of skillfulness. These were implemented in the physical education lessons for futsal during the research experiment, with two sessions per week and four sessions per skill, over a duration of six weeks, after the experimental phase, the data were analyzed using SPSS software. The conclusions and recommendations confirmed that the intuitive speed scale for futsal is suitable for third-year students in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Farahidi University. The scale meets the scientific standards for paper-and-pencil assessments. Furthermore, the application of instructional situational exercises integrated into the structured learning environment under a skillfulness climate in physical education lessons improved both intuitive speed and the performance of suppression skills in futsal (inside foot, sole, and outside foot) among the students, surpassing the performance of their peers who did not receive the same instruction, It is essential to adopt mental measurement applications in physical education lessons, particularly for measuring each student's intuitive speed, to support the enhancement of skill performance in futsal. It is also necessary to implement each situational exercise individually to avoid undermining students’ efforts and performance, and to respect the specific nature of suppression skill performance (inside foot, sole, outside foot) in futsal.
