Skillful Thinking and Its Relationship to Cognitive Motivation among Fourth-Grade Preparatory Female Students in Biology

Abstract
The research aims to identify the level of skillful thinking and cognitive motivation among fourth-grade preparatory female students in the subject of biology. The research population consisted of fourth-grade students in preparatory and secondary schools affiliated with the General Directorate of Education in Baghdad/Al-Karkh Third
To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive correlational method was adopted. Two instruments were constructed: a Skillful Thinking Scale and a Cognitive Motivation Scale, which were applied to the research sample
The results revealed that the fourth-grade preparatory students possessed a good level of skillful thinking and a high level of cognitive motivation, and that the relationship between the two variables was a strong positive correlation. The study concluded that improving the level of skillful thinking leads to an enhancement in cognitive motivation among preparatory stage students in the subject of biology.
