Economic life in the city of Aleppo during the Ayyubid era (579-613 AH / 1183-1216 AD)

Abstract

      This research is about a study of the economic life in the city of Aleppo in the Ayyubid era, and clarify the role that Aleppo played as a center for several forces represented by the external invasion and the influence of the era. The study adopted the descriptive and analytical composition to trace the basic components of Aleppo, and that Aleppo possesses even the components that make it of great vital importance, and to give the economic administration picture about the economic life in Aleppo, as economic life is developing into an indicator of vitality. The Aleppo economic sector during the Ayyubid era was characterized by activity despite the conflicts related to wars and military conflicts. This is expressed by the economic organization directorates that the Ayyubids owned in Aleppo, as this had a positive impact in supporting social construction.The nature of the economic life present in Aleppo is explained by the economic activity in agricultural and commercial activities, whether on its internal production based on its natural sources or on the level of economic exchange with cities and others alike, as well as the methods of the actor in the prosperity of Aleppo through the economic policy of its kings, and among the dimensions of that policy is the attempt to impose its provisions on the number of taxes as well as exercising the requirements of economic activity through the construction of markets and the benefits that provide protection for merchants, which is provided by a sales center.
