Abstract
The present study aims to identify the effect of a counseling program based on Choice Theory on developing self-worth among the elderly in governmental and private care homes in Baghdad for the year (2025–2026). The study adopted a quasi-experimental design consisting of two groups (experimental and control) with pre- and post-testing. To achieve the study objectives, a self-worth scale consisting of (20) items was constructed. A purposive sample of (20) elderly individuals was selected, with (10) participants in each group, in addition to a statistical analysis sample of (200) elderly individuals. The results showed statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group in the post-test, while no significant differences were found in the control group. This confirms the effectiveness of the counseling program in developing self-worth, with a large effect size of (3.80).
