Abstract

The development of perception is a cognitive process that distinguishes humanity as a prominent biological and cultural species, yet its evolution within humankind reveals significant theoretical gaps concerning the mechanisms that made it possible. Studying this issue requires the formulation of multidisciplinary methodological approaches, which may enhance the scientific objectivity of theoretical hypotheses.

It appears that the disciplines most focused on the dimensions of human perception are the cognitive and social sciences (specifically human development and linguistics). The theoretical foundation of these fields is based on research models that view understanding as a complex cognitive development shared by humanity and language alike.

This study seeks to examine developmental terms in the Holy Qur’an and analyze their linguistic dimensions by uncovering the linguistic characteristics that make Qur’anic expressions capable of building and conveying meanings, legal rulings, and syntactic structures. These dimensions go beyond traditional lexical and grammatical studies to embrace modern human development perspectives. The study also explains how Qur’anic expressions constitute a comprehensive linguistic system that supports human development and contributes to the elevation of both the individual and society.

The study is divided into a theoretical and conceptual framework, followed by an empirical section containing three main subsections: The first addresses terms related to construction and reform; the second discusses terms related to striving and sustenance; and the third examines terms related to empowerment and succession. Each subsection includes a meticulous linguistic analysis of the selected terms, investigating their semantic origins in Arabic lexicons, morphological analysis of derived forms, and syntactic analysis of verbal and nominal sentences, ultimately linking all these levels to the core concepts of human development.
