Difficulties in studying the philosophy of history and its proposed solutions from the point of view of the students of history department at the College of Education for Women - University of Baghdad.

Abstract

This research aims at identifying the difficulties of studying the philosophy of history and its proposed solutions from the point of view of the students of the history department at the College of Education for Women- University of Baghdad. The research group included all the (352) students of the preliminary study in the Department of History at the College of Education for Women - University of Baghdad. In order to achieve the objective of the research, the researcher chose the questionnaire as a tool for study; its credibility was extracted by presenting it to a group of specialists in educational and psychological sciences and history, and its stability based on the method of re-application of the tool. To calculate the coefficient of stability, the researcher relied on the Pearson correlation coefficient. Stability of the main areas ranged between (0.73 - 0.79). While the general arithmetic average of t stability of the tool reached (0.78). The results of the research were based on statistical methods (Pearson correlation coefficient and Fisher equation). The results showed a number of actual difficulties for studying the philosophy of history counted (17) items. The data showed that there were unrealistic difficulties identified from their point of view and considered (8) items as not achieved in the light of the adopted standards out of the total (25) items of the tool. In light of this study, the researcher has made several conclusions, recommendations, and proposals.
