Abstract

Water forms the lifeblood of life and the basis for existence on life. The Almighty said (and made us water from every living thing) without it there can be no life and that the continuation of life and progress in societies automatically means increasing the demand for water because it had a great role in directing the course of human migrations and distributing the population where the water was And still the source of conflicts between countries, especially the countries participating in one or more rivers, is taking place within its borders that most of Iraq’s water originates from outside its borders and is vulnerable to decline as well as its exposure to waste and pollution, so many internal and external strategies must be put in place to ensure good water management and development. where the first topic touched on the water crisis and its causes, the most important of which are climate variability, population growth and pollution,due to the wars and conflicts that occurred in the previous decade as neighboring countries, especially Turkey and Iran, exploited the Tigris water The Euphrates, this affected the amount of water coming into Iraq. As for Iran, it worked to cut off the water of some tributaries. Whole, such as the Alvand and Karkha River, as well as diverting the course of the Karun River into Iranian lands, which was feeding the Shatt al-Arab, which led to a significant increase in the salinity in the waters of the Shatt al-Arab and the impact of agricultural lands and the quality of drinking water in the southern provinces of Iraq. As for the second topic, it touched To the most important internal strategies of managing water resources, privatization, harvesting, desalination and water pricing, as well as using modern irrigation methods and external strategies represented in the proposed diplomatic, negotiating and cooperative solutions to avoid and resolve the Iraqi water crisis.
