Degree of practicing distributing leadership for governmental secondary schools’ principals at Bethlehem governorate and its relation to the teachers’ organizational citizenship behavior from teachers point of view

Abstract

     The study aims at investigating the degree of practicing distributing leadership for governmental secondary schools’ principals at Bethlehem governorate and its relation to the teachers’ organizational citizenship behavior from teachers point of view. It also tends to identify the effect of the variables of gender, academic qualifications and years of experience on the degree of practicing the distributing leadership and the teachers’ level of organizational citizenship behavior. Population of the study compromises all governmental secondary schools (n. 755). A random sample of 106 subjects was selected to collect data. The researcher used the correlational descriptive method. One  questionnaire for distributing leadership and another one for the organizational citizenship behavior were designed by the researcher. Results of the study showed the following: The degree of practicing the distributing leadership and the level of the organizational citizenship behaviors was medium. There was positive statistically significant correlation between the degree of practicing the distributing leadership and the level of the organizational citizenship behaviors for teachers. There were statistically significant differences in the degree of practicing the distributing leadership due to gender, academic qualification or years of experience. However, there were no statistically significant differences in the degree of the level of organizational citizenship behavior due to gender, academic qualification or years of experience.
