Abstract

Summary:
1- From these poetic examples, it becomes clear to us that the poets do not use the olfactory image except for the olfactory image that has a pleasant fragrant smell, and there are many words that indicate smell, including (musk, amber, wind, perfume, ...). As for bad smells, the two poets did not expose them.
2- Smell, or what some call it (smell), which is an element of the image and is associated with it.
3- Due to the expansion of the geographical area and the result of the mixing and development that took place in the Umayyad era, this led to a large number of words, especially the olfactory words or those denoting smell, which exceeded the words of smell in the pre-Islamic era.
4- The presence of the Islamic spirit in the olfactory image was observed in the olfactory poetry of Umar bin Abi Rabi’ah to document and confirm the image and give it more beauty.
5- The two poets used the affirmation method in its different forms to enhance their olfactory images.
