Abstract
This study falls within the core of the pragmatic theory, by showing how language is used according to the conversational contexts and the different positions in which speech is accomplished, to achieve the purposes of the interlocutors, and the realization of these purposes by the listeners, because the intention is a communicative pragmatic presumption in the context of the rhetorical act, and based on the theory of verbal acts that It was founded by Austin and developed by Serale. Hence, this study came as an attempt to show through it that the diverse discourse in the book (The Statement and Demonstration) of Al-Jahiz is not a narrow rhetorical statement of the data of expression and information, but rather it is above that a discourse with authorial purposes, which are the focus of influence, achievement and communication.
