The Effect of Kolb's Model Instructional Units Based on Compound Exercises on Explosive Power and Offensive Skills in Basketball

Abstract

       The objectives of this research are to develop instructional units based on compound exercises on explosive power and offensive skills in basketball for students. The aim is to identify the effect of Kolb's Model Instructional Units based on compound exercises on explosive power and offensive skills in basketball for students. The researcher used the experimental method using the two-group, tightly controlled approach, due to its suitability to the nature of the problem. The researcher identified the research community as third-year students in the College Physical Education and Sports Sciences, , Al-Mustansiriya University, academic year (2024-2025), numbering (124) male and female students. The research was based on male students only. The sample was randomly divided into two groups, each group divided into (20) students for the experimental group, (20) students for the control group, and (10) students were used for the purpose of the exploratory experiment. The researcher then classified the sample, conducted the pre-test, and prepared educational units according to the Kemp model with complex exercises. He then conducted the post-test. The researcher used the statistical package to reach scientific results that achieved the conclusions of the research, the most important of which is that the educational units of the Kolb model proved their effectiveness in enhancing the explosive strength of students, which contributes to improving their performance in jumping and shooting skills in basketball. One of the most important recommendations of the research is to emphasize the adoption of the Kolb model in training on various sports skills, given its ability to improve performance in multiple fields.
