الملخص

The goal of this research, titled “Problems of Pronunciation and Meaning in the Light of Critical Standards”, is to present the problem of pronunciation and meaning to six old Arab critics who raised this problem and discussed it in their critical and rhetorical studies; these critics are: Al-Jahidh, Qudama Bin Ja’afar, Al-Amedi, Al-Jarjani, Al-Marzouqi and Ibn Al-Atheer.

The problem of pronunciation and meaning is manifested in another perspective which is presented in matter and image or shape and content; both are robust elements from which the construction of text is originated and reaches the beauty of style that combines mindfulness and hot feelings.

Furthermore, let us not to forget the fact that there is a strong link between pronunciation and meaning in that pronunciation is a mean to convey meaning which is delivered only by pronunciation. In addition, we must pay attention not to run the risk of attributing the influence to one of them at the expense of the other, just like a group of old Arab critics who raised this problem.
