Main Article Content
Abstract
creativity, with novels becoming a powerful tool to document the suffering of the Palestinian people and express their experiences and hopes. Palestinian novels have often served as a witness to the tragedies experienced since the Nakba on 1948, a turning point in Palestinian and Arab history. These works detail the displacement, expulsion, and loss of homeland, successfully portraying the scenes of the Nakba with remarkable artistic precision, making them historical records imbued with literary finesse. The conflict with Israeli occupation has become a central theme in Palestinian novels, focusing on the resilience of Palestinians against attempts of erasure and uprooting. These novels, such as those by Ghassan Kanafani and works by Jabra Ibrahim Jabra, reflect the spirit of resistance and the dream of return while addressing the daily challenges faced by Palestinians both in exile and within their homeland. This is particularly evident in novels like Men in the Sun and Returning to Hai((f))a, where individual su((f))((f))ering intertwines with collective struggle, revealing the interconnectedness o((f)) personal and national anguish.. Palestinian novels also delve deeply into the themes of displacement and alienation, shedding light on the feelings of loss and identity crisis experienced by Palestinian refugees. These works highlight the cultural and social challenges faced by Palestinians in exile, torn between the desire for integration and the need to preserve their national identity. This blend of sorrow and hope has endowed Palestinian literature with a universal human dimension, resonating with readers both in the Arab world and internationally. The impact of wars and conflicts is also reflected in the narrative style of Palestinian novels, which are often characterized by an emotional and poignant tone, laden with pain and, at times, anger, yet infused with hope in other instances. This illustrates the ability of Palestinian literature to convey the depth of suffering through a sophisticated artistic approach that combines literary documentation with creative expression.
