Elements of rural development in Akrkov district
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to examine rural development in Aqarquf and the extent to which its distribution aligns with the population density in the area—quantitatively, qualitatively, and spatially—and to analyze the variation in its quantitative and spatial efficiency in light of the urban growth of the study area. It also seeks to explore ways to promote rural development in the area and to identify the most significant natural and human resources supporting rural development in Aqarquf, as well as the major natural and human constraints hindering it, and to propose measures to address these constraints in order to achieve effective rural development in the study area.
The study addresses the following key research questions:
What are the most critical challenges facing the achievement of rural development in the study area? Is there an existing rural development strategy, and what are the possibilities for finding appropriate solutions? To answer these questions and achieve the intended objectives, the study assumes that various problems hinder rural development in the area, and that the developmental strategy to be adopted should be based on planning criteria consistent with the size of the population and the requirements of rural development. The research proceeded through several stages, beginning with the collection of statistical data and information on the study area from books, research papers, studies, reports, maps, and satellite imagery. To supplement and fill gaps in the available information, a field study was conducted, involving on-site observation, recording of notes, photographic documentation, questionnaire distribution, and personal interviews with farmers and specialists in the area. The collected information and data were then organized into tables and charts, followed by statistical analysis to obtain the required results. The study includes the theoretical framework, the research problem, the hypothesis, the boundaries of the study area, the introduction, the concept of rural development, and the idea of sustainable rural development. It also addresses the natural factors influencing rural development. The study is divided into three chapters:
- Chapter One: History and emergence of the Aqarquf subdistrict.
- Chapter Two: Strategies for achieving rural development in Aqarquf, along with conclusions and recommendations.
The findings indicate that the study area possesses abundant natural and human resources that can support rural development if properly utilized. However, the results also reveal that the area suffers from numerous problems that have hindered the proper implementation of development programs. Furthermore, the study shows that natural factors have had less impact on the challenges facing rural development in the area compared to human factors.
