Abstract

The topic "Terminology in Legal Texts: A Linguistic Study" examines how language is used in legal discourse, with a focus on the precision and stability of legal terms. Legal terminology consists of specialized linguistic units that carry exact meanings, as any ambiguity may lead to different interpretations of the law.

The study highlights key features of legal terms:

Precision: Each term must have a clear and specific meaning.

Consistency: Terms are used with the same meaning across legal contexts.

Conciseness: Complex concepts are expressed in brief forms.

Neutrality: Avoidance of emotional or subjective language.

It also explores the relationship between general language and legal language, noting that legal language tends to be formal and complex, with distinctive syntactic structures. Additionally, it addresses challenges in legal translation, where exact equivalents between languages may not exist, requiring deep understanding of both legal and linguistic systems.
