Synchronicity and Succession in Surat Yusuf (The Story of Aziz's Wife as a Model) in Light of Conversational Implicature
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to shed light on two terms—synchrony and sequence—as semantic phenomena in linguistic discourse, and to examine them in light of the concept of conversational implicature. The study seeks to explain how temporal and logical relationships between events and utterances are inferred through what the speaker explicitly states and what is implied, based on context and principles of discourse. It also clarifies the role of conversational implicature in determining whether events occur simultaneously (synchrony) or sequentially (sequence), even in cases where these relationships are not explicitly stated.
