(Image of the popular mobilization in satellite channels for the public)

Abstract

Mass media , and especially satellite channels perform an important role in shaping and picturing opinions , impressions , and images of   individuals , groups , categories , and people when they get exposed to them , as well as depending on them in order to get news , information , events , and other issues .                      


     This research aims at presenting the image of the popular mobilization in satellite channels for the public , and see whether this image gives a positive or negative attitude , which satellite channels are trying to cover to the audience.                                                                                                    


     This study emerged from a question which was set by a president (the ambiguity of popular mobilization image for the audience and society categories, in addition to the fact that there is no actual vision for a real role of satellite channels in creating this image).                                           


     This image also aims at identifying popular mobilization image for Iraqi people , as well as , revealing their conviction about the role of satellite channels in forming that image .                                                                         


     The researcher used the survey approach and the questionnaire application which was distributed equally on a certain sample of people in Baghdad (150 person) in karkh , rusafa , and Al sadr city .                       


The research concluded the following findings:                                             



  1. (46,67%) pointed out their trust to some extent about what satellite channels display concerning popular mobilization issues , while (34%) gave their full trust , and (33,19%) don’t trust what those satellite channels display

  2. Newscast got the first role among other different programs which the audience watched in Iraqi satellite channels in a percentage of (44,20%) compared to Arabic and foreign satellite channels .

  3. (14,5%) pointed out their conviction about satellite channels are presenting as a real image , while (6,17%) have no whatsoever , and (4,33%) are not convinced at all .
