The role of academic elites and their position on issues related to oil affairs

Abstract
The governmental policy in the field of oil before the revolution of the fourteenth of July 1958 was characterized by turmoil and lack of clarity. The monopolistic companies and the government were surrounded by complete secrecy, and those companies were keen to prevent the establishment of a national apparatus specialized in the oil sector, in order to ensure the continuation of the flow of oil to the colonial countries for a longer period and at low prices.
