Abstract
A large earthquake struck southern Turkey, according to the Richter scale, with a strength of 7.8 degrees. It was followed by many aftershocks. Syria was affected and felt by Iraq and Lebanon. The first earthquake occurred on February 6 at four in the morning according to Turkish time, and its epicenter was west of the city of Gaziantep. Its impact extended to Syria as well, due to Because its epicenter is close to the Syrian-Turkish border, this earthquake is considered one of the strongest earthquakes in the history of Turkey and Syria. As a preliminary estimate, the number of victims in these two countries reached more than 51,000 dead and 120,000 injured. The earthquake also caused serious material damage in both countries. Turkey announced a high death toll on its territory and said Turkish Disaster Management: The country was exposed to many aftershocks, the last of which measured 4.3 on the Richter scale, which occurred in Konya in central Turkey, at a depth of 7 kilometers below the surface of the earth, and the tremor did not result in any damage
