Evaluation of the Arabic Language Textbook Used for Second Grade Class in Iraq as a Point of View of Teachers and Their Attitudes for Curriculum Development

Abstract

This present research aims to evaluate the Arabic language textbook (two parts) for the year 2018-2019 used for a second grade class in Iraq as a point of view of teachers and their attitudes for curriculum development, also find out the relation between their attitude and evaluation. This research involves all the Arabic language teacher for the second grade class of the year 2018-2019 in Baghdad city. The samples of the study are 300 teachers (male and female), where the author employed the descriptive method dealing with two tools in this research which are the evaluation questionnaire and the attitude scale.


The best concluded results observed from this research that there are many strength aspects in the textbook and the people who works on it spend a good effort to produce it on the good school textbook standards. While, the weak aspect that they should take into account the scope of the scientific material in the textbook with the duration of the two courses.


The important recommendation is reducing some of the vocabulary content of the textbook to be equalized with the duration of the curriculum courses. The suggestion of a solution is to produce a Guide book to the teacher, explained deeply the way of how to deal with the curriculum and with the teaching aspects of this new curriculum which based on the courses, so that the teachers can do it perfectly.
