Abstract

The current study aims to investigate the effect of the RAFT and Idea Filtering strategies on the achievement of second intermediate grade female students in the Biology subject. To achieve this, the researchers adopted a quasi-experimental design. The research population consists of second intermediate grade female students in the daytime governmental intermediate and secondary schools affiliated with the Directorate of Education in Babil / Markaz District for the academic year (2024 – 2025). A purposive sample of (102) students was selected from Al-Salihāt Intermediate School for Girls, divided into two experimental groups applying each of the two strategies, and a control group taught by the traditional method. Equivalence was achieved between the groups in the variables of prior achievement, intelligence, and prior knowledge. Multiple behavioral objectives were formulated based on Bloom’s taxonomy. Suitable teaching plans were prepared for each group and their validity was verified through referees. An achievement test consisting of 40 objective items was prepared, and its validity and reliability were verified using precise statistical criteria. This test was used to analyze the effect of the two strategies after the application period. The results showed statistically significant differences in favor of the two experimental groups compared to the control group, indicating the effectiveness of the RAFT and Idea Filtering strategies in improving the achievement of female students in the Biology subject. Based on that, a number of recommendations and suggestions were presented.
