Leading Women in the Contemporary Islamic Project
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research demonstrated that the balance in representation between women and men stems from the problem of male dominance in leadership positions in general. Some may view this dominance as a logical consequence of women's absence from decision-making positions in Islamic parties or organizations. The research emphasized the development of genuine women's projects stemming from the real need for social, cultural, and educational movements. These projects are being adopted by Islamic institutions and genuinely supported to ensure their sustainability. The importance of the research lies in changing women's perceptions of the concept of social participation with men. Islam prescribed the hijab not for women to remain at home, but rather to prepare them for an important role in society. The research concluded that the contemporary Islamic project has transcended the debates of absolutes and restrictions regarding women's responsibilities and tasks, in terms of movement, society, and politics.
