Abstract

This research deals with one of the important doctrinal and historical topics that have occupied a wide area of interest of the Islamic nation throughout the ages, which is the issue of the mandate of the Amir of the faithful Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) after the death of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and the difference in narratives and positions between supporters and opponents raised about it. Al-Ghadeer day is one of the most prominent historical stations in Islam, and indeed one of the greatest holidays among Muslims, because of its deep religious connotations and sacred status, as it was associated with the revelation of noble Quranic verses and Noble prophetic hadiths indicating the declaration of the Wilayat of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) by divine command through Gabriel (peace be upon him).

This research has sought to study this subject through a scientific method based on the analysis of the narratives contained in the most important sources of Hadith among the Sunnis, namely Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, in order to identify the texts that can be understood in the context of supporting this mandate, and to indicate their historical and doctrinal connotations. The research also tried to provide a balanced reading that highlights the dimensions of this event and its impact on the course of Islamic thought.

The research was divided into three main sections; the first section dealt with the biography of Imam Muhammad Bin Ismail al-Bukhari, including his upbringing, his elders, his writings, his scientific status, and his death. The second section was devoted to the study of the biography of Imam Muslim Ibn Al-Hajjaj al-nisaburi, with the statement of his sheikhs, his scientific effects, his method of classifying Hadith, and his death. While the third section deals with the Hadiths and narrations related to the topic of the Wilayat of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), with an analysis of their contents in the light of the context of Divine communication.

This research aims to contribute to highlighting the importance of studying and analyzing Hadith texts to understand controversial issues in Islamic history, and to show the religious and intellectual dimensions of Yom Kippur as an event with a profound impact on the course of the Islamic nation.

In conclusion, the researcher hopes that he has succeeded in presenting this brief historical study, and that it will contribute to enriching scientific research in this field, and may Allah grant success.
