Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines financial oversight in Bayt al-Mal during the early Islamic period and its role in achieving social justice. It explores the concept of financial control in Islam, the emergence and functions of Bayt al-Mal, and the main mechanisms used to protect public funds and prevent financial corruption. The research adopts the historical-analytical, descriptive, and inferential methods. It finds that financial oversight in early Islam was based on both self-monitoring—through piety, honesty, and accountability before God—and institutional supervision exercised by the Caliph, governors, judiciary, hisbah, and financial bureaus.
