Abstract

The research aims to identify the impact of the mental trial strategy on the achievement of fifth grade middle school students in biology, and to verify the goal of the research, the following zero hypothesis was formulated:

  • There is no statistically significant difference at the level (0.005)between the average scores of the students of the experimental group who will study according to the "mental trial strategy" and the average scores of the control group who will study according to the usual method of achievement The current research community was represented by female students of the fifth grade of middle school in the morning public schools for girls affiliated to the Directorate of Education of Babylon Governorate / Musayyib district for the academic year (2022-2023), as it reached (17) preparatory and secondary schools. The current research community was represented by female students in the fifth grade of middle school, and the research sample was chosen to represent (70) female students with two divisions, if division (A) represented the experimental group with (36) female students and division (B) the control group with (34) female students., respectively. According to the usual way Equivalence was conducted between the students of the two research groups in the following variables (previous achievement, intelligence, previous information), as the experiment was conducted in the first semester of the year (2022-2023), and the current research was determined by the first four chapters of the Biology book, as it prepared the behavioral objectives that numbered ( 208) behavioral objectives according to Bloom's classification of the cognitive domain (remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating) The researcher prepared (48) teaching plans, including (24) for the experimental group and (24) for the control group. Multiple choice with four alternatives, and the virtual validity of the paragraphs was verified by presenting them to arbitrators with specialization and experience in the field of educational psychology, measurement and evaluation, for the purpose of indicating the validity of the paragraphs and their suitability for the specific goals. In this regard, the researcher took an agreement rate of (85%) or more as a criterion for accepting each paragraph of the test, as the experts agreed on the validity and safety of all test items After completing the application of the experiment, an achievement test was conducted on the students of the research sample (the experimental group and the control group), and the data (research results) were analyzed statistically based on the statistical bag (spss), and the results showed the superiority of the students of the experimental group who studied using the mental trial strategy. Achievement test on the students of the control group with statistical significance and a significant effect on achievement.

In the light of the research results, the researcher recommends using the mental trial strategy in teaching as an alternative to the usual method, and proposes a number of suggestions.
