Abstract

This study aims to develop an educational program based on productive thinking and examine its effectiveness in enhancing literary appreciation skills among high school students. The researcher adopted the experimental approach, using the post-test control group design, which is one of the quasi-experimental designs. The research sample was randomly selected and consisted of (67) students from Al  Al-Shatrah Preparatory School for Boys, affiliated with the Directorate of Education in  Al-Shatrah District. The experimental group included (35)   students from section (A), while the control group consisted of (32) students from section (B). The researcher ensured equivalence between the two groups in several variables, including chronological age (measured in months), parents’ academic achievement, intelligence test scores, linguistic ability test scores, and pre-test scores for literary appreciation skills. The researcher designed a test to measure literary appreciation skills, consisting of  (38( multiple-choice questions. The test was reviewed by a panel of experts in Arabic language curricula, teaching methods, and educational and psychological sciences to verify its validity and reliability. Additionally, item difficulty, discrimination power, and the effectiveness of incorrect alternatives were analyzed. The researcher personally taught both groups, and the experiment lasted for an entire academic semester, starting on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, and ending on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. After applying the research tool, the results were analyzed using appropriate statistical methods, including the independent samples t-test and the Chi-square test. The results of the study indicated that the experimental group, which was taught using the educational program, outperformed the control group, which did not receive the program.
